I'm so busy I'm literally going from the second I wake up in the morning. I'm a mom and I work and also try to do all the things I love, like travelling, spending time with friends, doing improv, reading...the list goes on. Somehow I do it all and often it feels out of balance. So how to I get centered and stay happy and productive? I meditate. I've been doing it for a few years and it's become my compass for how to live my life in a calm, balanced, successful way. To make it work for me -- because "meditation" can mean so many things and there are so many ways to do it -- I've come up with a few tricks. And now, I've started writing about these tricks under a pen name, Hertha Hedwig, and coupled them with illustrations to color while meditating.
The endeavor started with the Happy Mama series, focused on moms, and just a few days ago, Earnest Parc Press just released the first in the Happy Balance IRL #10minutes4me Challenge series. The book is designed to encourage people to step away from all devices, to-do lists and distractions so they can unplug, recharge and get back to being centered and balanced. I've found that once I'm there, it's easier to think clearly and make better choices and I just feel happier in general. I'm also much more productive in my busy life.
